MY THOUGHTS ON POLITICS AND THE UPCOMING ELECTION
by Jim Tucker

As we approach yet another election year, American citizens will again be allowed the freedom to cast their
vote for President and other state and local issues.  Many folks, including myself, breath a sigh of disgust as
the mud slinging and endless rhetoric get more and more frequent as we get closer to the primaries and of
course the general election.   Americans seem to be totally dismayed at the whole process and ask, "Why
even bother?"

As much as I share their sentiments, I must stop and remember that in the overall picture, no man will emerge
as the great saviour of the United States, (well not really.  Sort of, but that's another discussion).  It is God
we must look to intervene in the affairs of this great land.  But as for how this land became great, we must
take a look at history.  Many of our founding fathers and leaders, though not all Christian, understood the
importance of basing our laws and precepts on the Holy Bible.  All one has to do is read the Constitution or
the Bill of Rights or visit any of our government landmarks in Washington to see allegiance to God and
religious principle as having been held in utmost importance to our founding leaders.

In the upcoming election, as with most, there are those candidates who align with the philosophy that the
thought of God should be removed from all facets of public life, and those who still uphold religious
principal as absolutely necessary in maintaining a strong moral and economic fiber which holds this country
together.

As your opportunity comes along to cast your vote, please take the time to pray.  Ask God to lead you in the
decision you are about to make.  So often we ask what difference our one vote will make.  Many elections
have been decided by just a couple or few votes.  Listen to what the candidates are saying and consult with
news sources other than the major biased networks.   Then cast your vote for the person who not only talks
of God, (and there's much of that this election), but who also has a track record of upholding and
supporting religious freedom and godly principles within our society.
